Students See Successes as Washington Session Ceases

The Washington Student Lobby team is ready to celebrate. It is "Sine Die," the last day of the legislative session and here are the reasons they deserve to party:

  • They convinced the legislature to infuse the previously underfunded child care grant program with an extra $1 million
  • Led the successful effort to get more mental health counselors on college campuses
  • Worked to ensure the passage of a bill that will lead to a transfer student bill of rights
  • Supported campus safety improvements.

Students at the Washington Student Lobby have been organizing students across the state to put pressure on elected officials to get working parents and students needed childcare support extra funding from the state.

Just two days ago students joined the Governor of Washington State in signing a bill authorizing over $1MILLION dollars to childcare funding make college more affordable and accessible to those in most need of it at Washington Public Universities!

WSL is part of the United States Student Association and have been fighting to make education a right for everyone in this country for decades. Check out their website and the other work they've accomplished at http://www.wastudents.org/about.html
